Command (\u2318)-R<\/strong>: Start up from the built-in macOS Recovery system. Or use Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R to start up from macOS Recovery over the internet. macOS Recovery installs different versions of macOS<\/a>, depending on the key combination you use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Option (\u2325) <\/strong>or Alt<\/strong>: Start up to Startup Manager<\/a>, which allows you to choose other available startup disks or volumes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Option-Command-P-R<\/strong>: Reset NVRAM<\/a> or PRAM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shift (\u21e7)<\/strong>:  Start up in safe mode<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

D<\/strong>: Start up to the Apple Diagnostics<\/a> utility. Or use Option-D to start up to this utility over the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N<\/strong>: Start up from a NetBoot server, if your Mac supports network startup volumes<\/a>. To use the default boot image on the server, press and hold Option-N instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Command-S<\/strong>: Start up in single-user mode. Disabled in macOS Mojave or later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
